Jackass Note

Numismatic nickname for the $10 Series of 1869 Legal Tender Notes showing an eagle which, if turned upside down, resembles a jackass. This eagle motif was also used on certain other denominations and on Fractional Currency Shields.

jeton

A coinlike metallic piece used in the past for computing and accounting. Jetons sometimes circulated as money substitutes in Canada in the 1700s and 1800s. Also, a game token.

juice

Additional cost or profit made in a coin transaction.

junk silver

Common-date silver coins, usually circulated, whose bullion value exceeds their numismatic value.
