About This Series

The Banco de Isabel Segunda series of Spain in the World Currency contains 7 distinct entries.
In 1844, the Banco de Isabel Segunda (Bank of Isabella II, ISA) came into being from a private initiative aimed at promoting trade. It was authorized to issue cédulas al portador (bearer banknotes). Pursuant to royal decree of 25 February 1847, the Banco de Isabel Segunda merged into the Banco Español de San Fernando.
