On Feb. 6,1776 the Provincial Congress increased the number of £50 certificates from 3,000 to 6,000 and correspondingly reduced the number of £5 certificates from 50,000 to 20,000. Only the £20 and £50 have decorative backs as specified by the Council of Safety on June 26, 1775, which backs were engraved by James Oliphant.
