In 1904, the Dansk-Vestindiske Nationalbank (National Bank of the Danish West Indies, DVN) was established. In February 1905, it opened its headquarters in the capital of Charlotte Amelie, Saint Thomas. At the same time, the monetary system was changed from the rigsdaler to the franc (1 franc = 100 bit). The bank was granted the right to issue banknotes until 1934.
