Book Reference
It is estimated that 2,850 Oregon Exchange eagles were struck in 1849. Perhaps 20 have survived, with fewer than 10 examples in private hands. Striking issues seem to have plagued the mint, and we have seen weakly struck, lustrous examples graded anywhere between Very Fine and Choice About Uncirculated. Any original, problem-free example ought to be considered a part of the condition census.
