Strong strike doubling is noted on Liberty’s nose, lips, neck, and chin. This variety was once referred to as the "18.11" because the diagnostic overstate is weak, but best distinguished with a large dot remnant in the date. There are two Overton varieties of the 1811/10: O-101 and O-102. The O-101 variety features weak definition within the stars on the left side of the obverse. O-102 has sharp central definition in these stars.
Obverse Description
Portrait of Liberty facing left with a cap and the word LIBERTY on a ribbon above her brow. 7 stars on the left periphery and 6 stars on the right side represent the original 13 colonies. The date appears centered at the bottom.
Reverse Description
An heraldic eagle holding olive branches and 3 arrows in its claws is surrounded by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery. A ribbon below bears the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The denomination of 50C is centered below the eagle.
