So-called Bearded Goddess variety because a large die crack from Liberty's chin to the top of her bust gives the illusion that she has a beard. Values for this variety are based on late-die-state (LDS) examples with the obvious die crack visible, which are also referred to as Overton variety O-111b.
Obverse Description
Portrait of Liberty facing left with a cap and the word LIBERTY on a ribbon above her brow. 7 stars on the left periphery and 6 stars on the right side represent the original 13 colonies. The date appears centered at the bottom.
Reverse Description
An heraldic eagle holding olive branches and 3 arrows in its claws is surrounded by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery. A ribbon below bears the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The denomination of 50C is centered below the eagle.
