The unprecedented crossover underscores his personal efforts to combat “grade inflation.”
The Mint is collaborating with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products (WBDGCP) to feature DC Super Heroes on genuine US coins and medals, and to celebrate the American values and heroic ideals that these characters represent, values and ideals that built this country and continue to guide it today.
Look! Up in the Sky! It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! It’s Superman! It’s our groundbreaking Comic Art Coin and Medal Program celebrating comic art as a uniquely American art form! This program honors Super Heroes who represent the best of American culture and values. This gold proof coin depicts Superman™ and his alter ego Clark Kent™ as symbols of hope and strength. Get the Man of Tomorrow™ rendered in one half ounce 24-karat gold. Both the Super Hero and his secret identity reflect truth, justice, and bravery in a stunning proof finish.
Obverse Description
This design depicts Superman™ flying over his family farm. The Sun not only nurtures the farmland where a young Clark Kent™ was raised by his adoptive parents, it is also the primary source that fuels his incredible powers. Even so, it is the love, values, and inner strength instilled in him by Martha and Jonathan—Ma and Pa Kent—that ultimately made him a Super Hero.
Reverse Description
This design explores the duality of identity inherent in the story of Superman™ and the concept of “the hero within.” Clark Kent™ is shown as a young adult, deep in thought as he watches a plane fly overhead. Although still young, Clark is mature enough to be aware of his capabilities and to contemplate what is possible. His father, Pa Kent, looks on in the distance and knows it is only a matter of time before Clark leaves home to fulfill his destiny.
