The Reserve Bank of New Zealand have released a new range of collector coins in celebration of the Paris Olympics.
This note was not immediately accepted as legal tender for several weeks following its introduction in some parts of the country (notably in the north-east), and in other parts of the country it was accepted for only part of its value. One reason for this mistrust was a grammatical error in the French number on the note, which reads cinq millions zaïres instead of cinq millions de zaïres.
Obverse Description
French text; leopard; Mobutu Sésé Seko in uniform with cap; coat of arms
Reverse Description
French text; elephant tusks; smokestack; pyramids; bank initials
