The 1890-CC Morgan dollar debuted in the GSA Great Silver Sale in 1973 under the headline The Coins Jesse James Never Got. Representing a very small number of all GSA Morgan dollars, only 3,949 were ever issued in GSA soft packs or hard packs, out of a total mintage for this issue of 2,309,041. Whether circulated or uncirculated, all 1890-CC GSA Morgan dollars are considerably scarce and attract huge premiums from buyers, especially those who are enthusiastically building a set of GSA Hoard silver dollars. PLs and DMPLs are sought after.
Obverse Description
Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom.
Reverse Description
The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR.
